Over 50% Funded After Two Days!
about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 04, 2021 at 05:07:46 PM

Hey there, thanks for helping us to create an amazing book. We've reached the important 50% funded milestone! All three of the first books in the Monster Series were created thanks to the generosity of a relatively small group of people. We're committed to making this book the best one yet.

Meet today's monster, the Ice Breaker! This is one of several titans that will be in the book. Each of the seven regions will have one, and we might add a few more. The Ice Breaker is an enormous creature that lurks underwater and can smash through ice to surprise its victims.

36 hours in! Let's get this funded!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 03, 2021 at 07:44:57 PM

Hey everyone, thanks for backing Monsters of the Wilderness. We're 36 hours in now and 45% funded! That's a great beginning to the Kickstarter.

In Update #1 yesterday we gave you an idea of what the funding phase will look like. Today we'll look more at the book itself and give you a heads up about the online Monster Battles.

If all the Stretch Goals are reached, the book will be around 160 pages with 120 monsters. As you can see on the main Kickstarter page, we've completed the Arctic Region for you. There might be a few changes to that, but it's close to what will be in the book. Another six regions still need to be completed, so far the rest of the book looks something like this:

  • An overview of wilderness settings and GM advice
  • A detailed section about Oswald, the curse, and the portals
  • Setting pages for each region detailing the area, themes, encounters, weather, and more.
  • Six wizards from the Wizard Council that banished Oswald Myrr. Each of the eight schools of wizardry will be represented in the book.
  • At least six more titans like the Ragnar
  • More than half of the monsters are Large size or bigger
  • Lots of undead, monstrosities, fey. Several fiends, aberrations, beasts, elementals, and humanoids. A few dragons, lycanthropes, and giants.
  • Several magic items
  • A table of adventure hooks, many encounter tables, two events tables, monster lists

We're looking for some backers who would like to duel with monsters from all four of our Monster Series books. We'll use Zoom and a virtual tabletop platform for a couple of online events. Each person will be given the monsters' stat blocks ahead of time and we'll duel in a quick tournament. Loke Battle Mats are providing VTT wilderness maps for the events. Everyone who plays will receive prizes from us.

The first Monster Battle is scheduled for next Tuesday, Feb 16th 5-7pm PST/8-10pm EST. Our second event will likely be the following Tuesday. Email [email protected] if you're interested

Wow! What a start!
