Monsters of the Wilderness for 5th Edition

Hey everyone, we continue to work on the book and we have more art to show! A lot of the layout is done, and now the artist and layout person are working in unison putting everything together. First the artist does sketches and the project manager gives notes. Then the artist does ink versions with any adjustments, then finally they do color illustrations. After all the art is in the book, we'll do the final editing before going to print. Sometimes that means a few of the stat blocks or bios will be tweaked. There is another chance to edit after the printing house mails a copy of the unbound book to us.

Layout underway, Art about to start!

Hey everyone, hope all is well. We are moving along with the main book. The text is done and layout is well underway. We have about 20 illustrations done, descriptions for the rest of the art are now being given to the artist. As a bonus, we've added two extra monsters! So we're up to 122 monsters and 158 pages. 

Meanwhile, we have time to send out the add-on PDFs over the next couple of weeks. We've also started work on the Wilderness adventure and NPC book.

Editing almost Finished

Hey everyone, hope all is well. We're almost done the text for the book. Two editors are going over it right now. We hope to turn the book over to layout within a couple of weeks.

Delivering the add-ons will take longer than we thought due to circumstances beyond our control. We hope to get to that phase later next month.

Travis the artist is awaiting descriptions for the full-page art pieces, should be about 10 of those (the titans, back cover, and a few others). He will begin work on the regular size monster illustrations once the layout is done.

PDFs being sent out

Hey there, hope all is well. We are progressing quickly with the book (152 pages, 53000 words at this point). The text is almost ready for editing and then we hope to get it over to layout in 2-3 weeks. After that phase it's over to Travis the artist and his 110 illustrations!

Meanwhile, most of the surveys are in so we've started sending out the older PDFs. They will arrive in your Kickstarter inbox. The DriveThruRPG link seems to be buggy 3/1000 times, just retry it. Here is our schedule for mailing out the PDF links:

1) First we sent out the older PDFs for all pledge levels (those without options) 

2) The PDFs for those pledge levels with options 

3) The PDFs people chose as add-ons

(Older PDFs include the Monster series PDFs, GM handbooks, NPC books, The World of Myrr setting, old adventures, and the RPGenerations comic book)

FAQ recently:

1) Most of our PDFs are watermarked, we've done that for years. We'll consider whether we want to remove those. 

2) The rest of the physical items will be shipped with the Wilderness books in the fall

3) We don't use Backerkit for shipping, we ship the rewards ourselves and track shipments. Backerkit is used to collect your info and answers from survey questions. 

Finishing the Wilderness book is our focus, however we'll work on getting these PDFs out as soon as possible. If you have any questions, email [email protected]

Survey deadline is now April 18th

Hey everyone, thanks for filling out the Backerkit surveys. 90% have been completed and many of those left don't need addresses for shipping. We're moving up the deadline to April 18th to fill them out as we know backers want their PDFs as soon as possible.

This way we can quickly send the older PDFs for the different backing levels, such as the other Monster Series books, DM handbooks, and World of Myrr books. Those who chose PDFs as add-ons shouldn't have to wait long either. 

Meanwhile, we're hard at work on the book. Currently it is 151 pages and 47,000 words. 120 monsters including; 31 humanoids (most of those are shapechangers or strange humanoid types), 21 fey, 17 monstrosities (including 7 titans), 16 undead, 9 beasts, 6 aberrations, 6 elementals, 3 fiends, 3 giants, 3 plants, 2 dragons, 1 lycanthrope, 1 celestial, and oddly 1 construct. 

We have also ordered all the t-shirts, notebooks, and stickers that people have chosen as add-ons so far. Most of those have already arrived at our office.
